The new regional-level aquatic and recreation centre in the City of Swan is on track to open at the end of 2027 with construction now underway at the site of Swan Active Ellenbrook.

Located in Perth’s outer north-east, the facility is the flagship of the City’s extensive infrastructure projects.

The centre is being built adjacent the METRONET Ellenbrook Station, and it will feature:

  • A 50-metre outdoor pool
  • A 25-metre indoor pool
  • Warm water pool, learn to swim pool and toddler leisure pool
  • Waterslides
  • Spas, saunas and a steam room
  • Change room facilities
  • Grandstand, shaded barbeque and picnic areas
  • Indoor sports hall housing indoor multi-purpose courts
  • Gym, group fitness rooms and a wellness centre
  • Family facilities, including a creche
  • A cafe

“Building this facility is also building a stronger community and supporting better health outcomes for the people who live here.

“With not only pools, slides and a barbeque, Swan Active Ellenbrook will be a centre for community connection, activity and fun for years to come,” Federal Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Minister Catherine King said.

“This is an important day for everyone in Ellenbrook, with this fantastic community asset moving nearer to completion,” Deputy Premier and State Member for West Swan Rita Saffioti MLA said.

“As the local member, I’m pleased to see this Centre open and ready to support local groups and community activities in Ellenbrook,” State Member for Swan Hills Michelle Maynard MLA said.

This community-driven project will incorporate state-of-the-art sustainability initiatives such as a large solar array and environmentally friendly landscaping in outdoor areas.

The $145 million project is funded through a reserve fund as well as contributions from the Australian ($30 million) and Western Australian ($20 million) Governments.

“Swan Active Ellenbrook will be a place where families come together and our whole community can enjoy a healthier, more active lifestyle.

“I’m incredibly proud that the Albanese Labor Government is investing in this project, which will deliver long-lasting benefits for one of the fastest-growing areas in our country,” Federal Member for Hasluck Tania Lawrence said.

“It’s a perfect example of what can be achieved by three levels of government – federal, state and local – working together for the benefit of the community.

“I am delighted to be here at this very important moment and thrilled to see the great progress made towards delivering our promise to the people of Ellenbrook,” City of Swan Mayor Tanya Richardson said.
