The Northern Territory Government has awarded a Major Project Status to KGL Resources Limited’s $190 million Jervois Copper-Silver-Gold Project which will create over 650 construction and operations jobs for Territorians.

A Project Facilitation Agreement (PFA) has been signed by the NT Government and KGL – who will be running the project located approximately 270-kilometres north-east of Alice Springs.

“The Territory Labor Government is restoring trust in Government by creating jobs including helping facilitate the development of major projects such as KGL’s Jervois Copper-Silver-Gold Project. This project has the potential to create 360 jobs during construction, over an 18 month period, and 300 on-going jobs once operational, over a 12-year plus period.

“We recognise the significance and potential the project could provide for the Territory. Major Projects create employment opportunities for Territorians and develop new business opportunities within the Territory,” said Chief Minister Michael Gunner.

KGL is currently continuing its intensive exploration at Rockface in order to support a resource update and enable preliminary work in order to begin evaluating mining as well as processing options for the project.

“The confidence that the Northern Territory Government has shown in KGL and the Jarvois project, and the cooperation extended to the company in moving towards development at Jarvois are greatly appreciated,” said KGL Chairman Denis Wood.

The Environmental Impact Statement for the project is scheduled to be submitted early in 2018, with construction expected to begin by late next year.
