Major construction on Golden Age’s $190 million 130 Little Collins Street project in Melbourne is now underway and Probuild has been appointed to deliver this new commercial office building.

This new building is set to become the largest strata office developments since the global pandemic began last year.

“Melbourne’s CBD strata office market has remained resilient despite the challenges of COVID-19 and is outperforming other major CBDs across the country.

“Every dollar invested now, every worker that comes back into a CBD office, every extra job created through the construction sector has flow-on benefits for our city,” City of Melbourne Lord Mayor Sally Capp said.

The multi-million-dollar project is anticipated to support more than 340 jobs over its delivery stage.

Designed by Cox Architecture, Hecker Guthrie and Jack Merlo, the new 28-storey building is located within Melbourne’s East End – Australia’s most sought-after office precinct – which is home to several of Australia’s landmark buildings and Parliament House.

The new building is also conveniently situated near trams, trains and bus services as well as internationally known restaurants, bars and designer shops.

“Many tenants within Melbourne’s eastern core have historically had to renew within the precinct given the lack of supply and availability but 130 Little Collins has catered to the pent-up demand.

“The typical commercial building has been turned on its head; we’re witnessing a preference towards more boutique floorplans as a result of businesses scaling down their requirements for an office, coupled with something that greater emphasises lifestyle and wellbeing,” Golden Age Group Founder and Managing Director Jeff Xu said.

130 Little Collins Street is aiming for a 5-star Green Star Certification, 5-star NABERS design potential and WELL silver certification.

The new commercial building is expected to be completed in 2023.
