Local property developer Mackycorp has been given the go-ahead to begin the development of a 23-storey A-grade office tower located at the corner of Bigge and Scott streets in Liverpool in Sydney’s southwest.

The Fender Katsalidis-designed building - named Liverpool Quarter - is set to become the tallest commercial tower in Liverpool and it will comprise of a 25,000-SQM office space; 1,500-SQM of co-working space; 640-SQM of retail space including a refurbished 1888 Hotel.

This $210 million project will also include refurbishing the heritage-listed New Commercial Hotel as well as the construction of a 2-storey building named The Stables.

“Liverpool Quarter is a landmark project that will transform the area and enhance its surrounds.

“The building will act as a regional marker welcoming one’s arrival into the city whilst creating an exciting new civic precinct celebrating its heritage,” Fender Katsalidis Director Mark Curzon said.

The development will also feature a 1,200-SQM open space that will serve as the heart of the new precinct.

The project will be catering to the growing commercial demands of the region which will include the development of the new Western Sydney Airport.

Liverpool Quarter is also set to provide better connectivity to the Sydney CBD, with the precinct located adjacent the Liverpool train station.

“We were attracted to this site given it was opposite the train station but also because of the three-storey heritage pub that was once the gateway to the city from the river and the east. Liverpool Quarter will stand proud as the gateway to the city and the refurbished pub alongside The Stables will create a destinational food and beverage precinct.

“The people of Liverpool and the southwest deserve better. They are tired of travelling great distances to work and to experience quality food, beer and wine in a clean and safe environment. Liverpool Quarter will be a place for the people of Liverpool and the southwest to be proud of to call their own,” Mackycorp Managing Director Michael Hercus said.

Construction on the new commercial tower is anticipated to commence later this year and is due for completion by late 2021.
