$230m mining contract for WA Corunna Downs project awarded to MACA

MACA Limited will continue providing mining services for Atlas Iron Pty Ltd at the Corunna Downs iron ore project in Western Australia with a new contract award valued at $230 million, which will be executed over a period of 62 months.

Under this new contract award, MACA’s scope of works will comprise of open pit mining services which includes drilling and blasting as well as loading and hauling.

“We are pleased to have been selected as the Contract Miner for Atlas building on our workload in the Iron Ore Sector with an existing client. We look forward to being part of the successful development of this project,” MACA CEO Mike Sutton said.

The company has a long-standing relationship with Atlas Iron, having provided services at the Pardoo, Mt Dove, Abydos and Wodgina operations; and currently providing crushing services at the Mount Webber Operations. In addition, MACA was awarded a contract earlier this year for civil works at Corunna Downs.

Together with the new contract award, MACA’s total work in hand is valued at approximately $2.2 billion.

The Corunna Downs iron ore project is located 33 kilometres south of Marble Bar in the Pilbara region.
