$26m Everton Park Link Road in QLD one step closer to construction

Motorists will soon be able to experience a safer and less congested road when travelling through Everton Park in Queensland with design works set to commence on a $26 million upgrade, bringing the project one step closer to reality.

The Everton Park Link Road is set to provide a new connection between South Pine Road north of Kedron Brook Creek and Stafford Road east of Mountridge Street.

“The existing intersection of Stafford Road and South Pine Road already carries heavy traffic and is surrounded by several shopping precincts.

“Building this new link will provide better access to local shops, and a better journey for motorists,” Member for Ferny Grove Mark Furner said.

Mr Furner added that this project is part of a larger traffic management strategy happening in the city’s north west, with the strategy including improvements done on Samford Road where congestion has been slashed by five minutes.

This $26 million project will also include facilities for cyclists and pedestrians to ensure that various modes of transportation are covered by the upgrade, at the same time providing the community with active and healthy transport options.

“Traffic improvements will be made to existing surrounding roads as part of this project with a refined concept plan expected to be released in the coming months,” Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said.

In addition, engaging with the community regarding the design and feedback for the project will also be considered for the successful delivery of the Everton Park Link Road.

“We will, of course, also be talking to residents and business people near these works to keep them informed,” Mr Bailey said.

Early works on site are expected to commence soon, with major construction activities set to begin in late 2019.
