Construction is now underway on the $330 million expansion of the Adelaide Casino. The project is going to be delivered by Hansen Yuncken and it is expected to create approximately 1,000 jobs during construction as well as up to 800 ongoing positions once the expansion is completed in 2020.

The expansion will comprise of a 12-storey building and up to 750 car parking spaces. The casino building is designed by The Buchan Group architects and it will feature:

  • 123 hotel suites designed by Hecker Guthrie Walter Brooke
  • Three new signature restaurants
  • Additional new casual dining options
  • Three new bars, including a rooftop bar with views of the Torrens River
  • Conference and function facilities that can accommodate up to 500 guests
  • A wellness centre which includes a sauna, pool, day spa and gym
  • Four new VIP luxury gaming suites
  • Expanded gaming facilities

The project will also include the integration and preservation of the heritage-listed Adelaide Railway Station.

Adelaide Casino General Manager Luke Walter, commenting on the Adelaide Railway Station revitalisation, said: “It’s got special character and to bring it back to its former glory is pretty important as well, and it will complement our new building.”

According to Hansen Yuncken State Manager Mark Rosenboom, the firm is committed to utilising local content throughout the expansion’s delivery phase.

“At its peak, we’d anticipate in excess of 300 skilled workers are needed every day to deliver this high quality and iconic project and we’ll be partnering predominantly with local industry throughout,” Mr Rosenboom said.

The Adelaide Casino expansion is part of the broader Adelaide Festival Plaza redevelopment project that is aimed at transforming the precinct into a world-class destination.

This expansion project is funded by New Zealand-based casino operator SkyCity - who also owns Adelaide Casino.
