Dubai-based business conglomerate Najibi Group has recently unveiled its plans to develop a $400 million ‘active lifestyle’ park on the Sunshine Coast. The design for this development was inspired by different tourist hotspots from across Asia. This project is going to be overseen by Najibi Group’s Australian venture company, Sanad Capital.
Though the project has not yet been named, it does have the preliminary approval from the Sunshine Coast Council. Further details about the project is expected to be released late in 2016 and construction to commence by 2017.
“The development is set to become an unparalleled, unprecedented tourist hub. Influenced by major action sports projects, water parks and entertainment hubs across Asia, it will serve up a memorable, family-friendly experience to locals as well as tourists,” Sanad Capital’s Chief Executive Bradley P. Sutherland said.
An economic benefits and analysis report from Brisbane-based firm, Urban Economics, states that this up and coming tourist attraction will boost the local economy. The report also states that at least 2,000 direct and indirect jobs are expected to be created during the construction phase. This project will also be able to generate a further $29 million in salaries and wages annually once the development is completed.
According to Urban Economics’ report, the project will add up to $260 million into the State’s local economy during construction as well as $30 million annually once the development is operational.
“We feel this is the right time to invest in Australia. The Sunshine Coast is rife with opportunities, and we are confident that this project will be extremely successful,” Najibi Group Executive Chairman Talal Y. Najibi said.
The development will include the world’s first ‘wave reservoir’, a world-class waterpark, water sports facilities, a sports centre, an events venue and a hotel with retail and restaurant outlets.
