The ACCIONA Industrial and Gransolar joint venture has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction contract for Fotowatio Renewable Venture’s (FRV) large-scale solar project in Queensland.
The 100MWac Lilyvale Solar Farm is located 50 kilometres north east of Emerald and will cover approximately 396 hectares. The solar project will consist of 379,260 photovoltaic modules with single-axis tracking systems as well as 25 transformer centres.
“Lilyvale Solar Farm – along with FVR’s other large-scale solar developments installed or under construction, will contribute around 280MWac of clean energy capacity and brings the total value of FVR’s solar investments in the Australian renewable energy sector to around $700 million.
“We are proud to be working with local and international companies and partners to deliver clean energy in Australia,” FRV Australia Managing Director Cameron Gransworthy said.
Once operational, the Lilyvale Solar Farm will be able to generate enough clean energy to power more than 45,000 households in the region. The project is expected to be one of Australia's largest photovoltaic solar farms.
Works have already begun and will be completed by the end of 2018. Construction of this large-scale solar project is expected to employ up to 200 workers.
