Additional $190m investment to get Windsor Rd Upgrade at Rouse Hill moving
The New South Wales Government is committing an additional $190 million in the 2026-27 State Budget towards the Windsor Road upgrade in Rouse Hill.
This new investment brings the total State Government funding to $200 million, matching the Australian Government’s $200 million allocation for the project.
“This investment is part of our plan to provide relief now and build for the future, easing pressure on families where we can while delivering the infrastructure growing communities will need for decades to come.
“This funding comes after more than a decade of underinvestment which left families in North West Sydney without the infrastructure and essential services needed to support these growing communities,” Transport for NSW said in a statement.
The upgrade will help relieve congestion for the more than 30,000 motorists that use Windsor Road each day. It will also ease the pressure on local roads, improve safety as well as ensure families, workers and businesses in the area have quicker and more reliable journeys.
Access to the new Rouse Hill Hospital will also be delivered through this upgrade. The new hospital and road upgrade will work together to ensure local families have access to world-class healthcare closer to home.
In addition, upgrading Windsor Road will also improve public transport connections in and around North West Sydney.
The project is proposed to include:
- Widening Windsor Road between Mile End Road and Commercial Road to three lanes plus a bus lane in each direction
- Upgrading key intersections at
- Windsor Road and Commercial Road
- Windsor Road and Mile End Road
- Commercial Road and Caddies Boulevard
- Commercial Road and Hospital Road
- Construction of a shared path on the eastern side of Windsor Road to support walking and cycling
- New and upgraded bus infrastructure, including dedicated bus lanes along Windsor Road between the existing T-way and Mile End Road
Transport for NSW is carrying out early planning and design for the project. Delivery timing and future stages will be announced as the project progresses.
This project builds on the more than $7.4 billion State Government investment in Western Sydney roads since 2023, with major upgrades being delivered to Richmond Road, Fifteenth Avenue and Elizabeth Drive.
