As part of the 2026-27 NSW Budget, an additional $25 million is being invested to deliver healthcare facilities that will meet the needs of the Blue Mountains community.
The Minns Labor Government is committed to delivering more hospitals and more beds to cater for the increasing demands of growing communities.
This new funding boost will support planning for the future Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital, including progressing site investigations, design and scoping work to help shape the future of the hospital.
The additional funding builds on the State Government’s previous $25 million investment on essential upgrades to the existing Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital.
Upgrades will be carried out on:
These works to the existing hospital will enhance health facilities as well as improve healthcare experience for staff, patients and the local community. The upgrades are expected to be completed later this year.
All works have been prioritised, in consultation with hospital staff and clinicians, to help improve health services and ensure minimal disruption to patients, visitors and staff.
Updates will be provided to staff, stakeholders and the community as planning and work progresses.
“We are committed to improving health facilities and services for communities across the Blue Mountains, now and into the future.
“This is an important investment, which doubles our contribution to $50 million, and reflects our ongoing commitment to improve health services and progress planning to inform a future hospital for the Blue Mountains.
“Labor is delivering more hospitals and beds, and more staff for the Blue Mountains,” Minister for Health Ryan Park said.
Meanwhile, early planning for a future Blue Mountains Hospital redevelopment is being carried out, which includes site investigations on the hospital campus and beginning discussions with local health staff.
A draft Clinical Services Plan (CSP) has also been submitted by the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District to the NSW Ministry of Health for review.
The draft Plan identifies the future health care needs of the Blue Mountains region, and it has been informed by consultations with local clinicians, health staff and the community as well as by hospital data, population demographics and projections for the Blue Mountains local government areas.
A future redevelopment on the Blue Mountains Hospital will ensure communities have access to a wide range of quality healthcare closer to home for years to come.
“This is an important project for our staff, patients and the local community, and I’m pleased to deliver this significant funding boost to support further improvements to the health service and planning for a future hospital in the Blue Mountains.
“As we plan for the future, we’re progressing work to deliver essential upgrades and enhancements to spaces across the hospital, ensuring patients, staff and visitors continue to receive safe, high-quality care,” Member for the Blue Mountains Trish Doyle said.
