A $5.5 million grant has been awarded to APA Group by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) for the proposed Emu Downs solar farm near Cervantes in Western Australia, part of ARENA’s latest round of funding grants.
Emu Downs solar farm is one of the 12 projects that were chosen by ARENA, and will be able to help decrease energy cost as well as triple the country’s large-scale solar power generation. The 20-megawatt solar farm is expected to cost $47.2 million to build.
ARENA will also be partially funding six solar plants in Queensland and five other projects in New South Wales. A combined 480-megawatts of electricity is expected from all these renewable energy projects.
“It is now up to successful companies to deliver these projects in line with ARENA’s requirements, which could see all plants built by the end of next year,” said ARENA’s Chief Executive Ivor Frischnecht.
