Mining contractor Barminco has secured a contract from Regis Resources for underground mining services at the Rosemont Underground operations - which is part of the Duketon Gold Project located approximately 130 kilometres north of Laverton in Western Australia.

“The Company is very pleased to partner with a highly experienced and well regarded underground mining contractor in Barminco.

“This is a major step in delivering the underground strategy that Regis has been pursuing at Duketon. We believe the development of the initial underground position at Rosemont provides an excellent platform to grow the operation through exploration from an established underground footprint,” Regis Resources Managing Director Jim Beyer said.

Regis Resources approved the development of an underground deposit below the existing Rosemont open pit in August 2018.

Barminco’s recent contract award relates to the development as well as production of the underground mine below the Rosemont open pit for an initial period of three years. The company is set to begin underground mining activities by the end of March this year, with the first ore milled by the end of 2019.

“Rosemont is a key component of our existing strategy to increase annual production and mine life at Duketon,” Mr Beyer said.

In August 2018, Barminco was acquired by mining services company Ausdrill.
