Gold Fields has awarded Barminco Holdings two four-year contracts with a combined value of $335 million, which extends Barminco’s existing mining services at the Agnew gold mine in Western Australia.
The two contracts are for underground mining services at the Waroonga pit and for diamond drilling at both Waroonga and New Holland pits.
Together with this recent contract extension, Barminco will have provided services to Gold Fields for a continuous 12 years.
“Over that time we have completed approximately 50 kilometres of development and 2.5 million tonnes of production.
“We are very pleased to have secured these extensions and look forward to working with Gold Fields to continue driving safe and efficient production at the Agnew gold mine,” Barminco Chief Executive Officer Paul Muller said.
The Agnew gold mine is located approximately 23 kilometres from the town Leinster and 375 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie, in Western Australia’s Eastern Goldfields. The mine has a production of more than 250,000 ounces of gold annually.
