A joint venture between BMD Constructions and Consolidated Power Projects (CPP) Australia Pty Ltd has been awarded a contract to deliver Global Power Generation Australia’s $200 million Crookwell 2 Wind Farm development, located 35-kilometres north of Goulburn in New South Wales.

The 91MW wind farm, once completed, will be able to produce up to 320-GWh (gigawatt hours) of renewable energy annually for homes in Canberra from 28 turbines, contributing to the capital’s 100 per cent renewable energy target.

The project is going to be delivered under a Balance of Plant (BoP) contract which comprises of the design and construction of about 23-kilometres of gravel access tracks with drainage, 28 concrete foundations for the turbines as well as construction of hardstands and crane platforms.

CPP will deliver the electrical scope design and construction for the project which includes substation, equipment and buildings.

“The project team commenced onsite last month and are completing preparation works including topsoil stripping and installation of cattle grids at fence locations to ensure minimised impact on nearby landowners’ farm operations. In line with BMD’s commitment to the communities in which we work, the project team are working closely with local farmers to ensure they are able to continue to maintain farm operations in the land surrounding the turbines,” BMD said in a statement.
