Broad Construction Services to deliver bigger, better Kingaroy Hospital in QLD

Queensland’s South Burnett community will soon have a new bigger and better hospital, with construction to commence soon on the $73.9 million Kingaroy Hospital redevelopment project.

The project also marks a new major milestone as Broad Construction Services was awarded the contract to build the new hospital following a large open market tender process that resulted to seven contractors being shortlisted.

“We promised to build a bigger hospital in Kingaroy and that’s exactly what we’re doing. I can’t wait to see construction begin,” Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said.

According to Minister for Health and Minister for Ambulance Services Steven Miles, this redevelopment project is anticipated to support up to 72 jobs during construction and will utilise as many local subcontractors where it is possible.

“Over the next two years, the Kingaroy and wider South Burnett community will see the construction of a new hospital.

“We’re providing more and better health services in Kingaroy,” Mr Miles said.

Darling Downs Health Board Chairman Mike Horan AM has thanked the Kingaroy Hospital staff for the feedback that they have provided which ensures that the upgraded health facility will meet the needs of the growing local community.

“Our staff, both at the Kingaroy Hospital and working in our infrastructure division, are able to be commended for their work so far on the project and ensuring that the early construction works have had little bearing on people accessing services at the hospital.

“This is a community facility and we want to make sure it will continue to meet the growing needs of the South Burnett into the future,” Mr Horan said.

For this project, Broad Construction Services will be setting up a local satellite office to make consultation easier throughout the delivery phase.

Construction is expected to begin this month, with the bigger and better Kingaroy Hospital due to be completed in 2021.
