A head builder has been appointed to deliver major upgrades to the Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park in Morwell, taking the project a step closer to construction.

Victorian company Building Engineering Pty Ltd has been appointed to lead the delivery of upgrades to the region’s premier sports and entertainment venue.

The upgrades include a new grandstand pavilion with change rooms and amenities, redeveloped and upgraded pitches with new lighting and player facilities, a new change facility, and increased car parking.

The Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park will continue to be the home of Falcons 2000, Gippsland United FC, Latrobe Valley Soccer League and Gippsland Referees as well as remain the region’s major outdoor events venue.

“Appointing a builder brings us closer to delivering these upgrades that will not only encourage more participation in sports amongst the local community but also support jobs and the local economy,” Minister for Community Sports Ros Spence said.

“Participating in sports at any level contributes so much to the community and individuals taking part, which is why we invest in sports clubs and infrastructure right across Victoria,” Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos said.

Building Engineering was also appointed head builder for the Morwell Gun Club upgrade. This project involves the delivery of two new Olympic standard trap shooting ranges, player shelters, an armoury, maintenance shed and upgrades to the car park.

The Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park upgrades are anticipated to be completed in late 2026, while the Morwell Gun Club upgrades are due for completion later this year.

The upgrades will be delivered under the Victorian Government’s Regional Sports Infrastructure Program and the two projects are part of the Gippsland Sports Package, which also includes the Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium and Ted Summerton Reserve.

“These upgrades add to more than $85 million invested into new and upgraded sporting and community facilities across the Latrobe Valley, and will enable more people to get active and get involved, close to home,” Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing said.
