Built to deliver $400m Liverpool Civic Place NSW

Built - a construction and development company - has signed an agreement with the Liverpool City Council to jointly develop the $400 million FJMT architects-designed Liverpool Civic Place located on 52 Scott Street in Sydney’s growing third CBD.

“We’re getting on with things with Built as a key partner. This is a stunning complex of buildings that is going to serve the community very well.

“We are the Airport City but we’re also a city with heart and history. I’ve always said we can grow with clever design and Liverpool Civic Place will be one of the jewels in our crown,” Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said.

The Liverpool Civic Place will deliver new public spaces, community facilities as well as bring job opportunities for locals and attract more commercial investment into the city.

The development master plan - which the application was lodged last week - will include:

  • 17,000-SQM for new Council offices, Council Chambers and childcare
  • 5,000-SQM for a new state-of-the-art city library
  • A 24-level tower to accommodate a combination of commercial, retail and education spaces
  • A nine-level hotel or student accommodation building and parking

“This is a great example of private sector partnering with Government to unlock opportunities within existing assets to benefit the community and attract more investment into Liverpool,” Built Managing Director Brett Mason said.

The Liverpool City Council has committed approximately $195 million towards this project, which will include the delivery of community facilities during its first stage development. Built will commit the remaining commercial costs for the following development stages of the project. All stages of the project are still awaiting further development application approval.

“This project offers great potential and flexibility for a number of uses which can take advantage of the unique location and activation of Liverpool Civic Place to cater for the growing commercial and education demands of Liverpool and South West Sydney.

“It’s a great example of Council leading activation of our own CBD using existing assets. Council owns the land Liverpool Civic Place will be built on. Watch this space. We will be doing more great things with Council land in our CBD in future,” Mayor Waller said.

The Liverpool Civic Place project is part of the more than $1 billion pipeline of major mixed-use developments for the city of Liverpool.

Construction on Stage 1 of Liverpool Civic Place is anticipated to begin in mid-2020 and is due for completion by mid-2022.
