Civmec Limited has announced that the company has been issued a Notice of Award by Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) for major onsite works at the Iron Bridge Magnetite Project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

The company has also secured lesser-value contracts from other clients and together with the FMG contract, Civmec records a total of approximately $140 million in their order book.

The major onsite works at Iron Bridge will be undertaken by Civmec’s Minerals and Metals Division.

Civmec’s contract award from FMG will cover onsite structural, mechanical, piping and electrical works for the Iron Bridge Magnetite Project.

Scope of works will include installation of the crushing circuit, primary grinding, dry separation, air classification and dry tailing for the dry plant.

“We are delighted to extend our relationship with IBJV (FMG Magnetite Pty Ltd and Formosa Steel IB Pty Ltd) with further work awarded on the Iron Bridge Magnetite Project.

We are currently delivering site concrete works and have commenced work for the supply of 4,700 tonnes of steel structures and modules for the same project, so this award is a very rewarding outcome and aligns well with our multi-discipline capability business model,” Civmec Chief Executive Officer Patrick Tallon said.

For this project, Civmec will begin mobilising on site in early 2021. The company also estimates that it will employ up to 400 workers at peak construction.

The Iron Bridge Magnetite Project is located about 145 kilometres south of Port Hedland and it incorporates the North Star and Glacier Valley Magnetite ore bodies.

The project is being developed by FMG’s subsidiary FMG Iron Bridge and Formosa Steel IB.
