Multiplex has begun construction on the $1.25 billion Collins Arch development – also known as “The Pantscraper” – at 447 Collins Street in Melbourne.

The CBUS Property development – designed by Woods Bagot and New York-based firm Shop Architects – will have two 42-storey towers connected at the very top by a sky bridge. The towers will have up to 250 one, two and three-bedroom apartments as well as office spaces, a five-star hotel and shops.

The development will cover up to 2,000 square-metres of public open space which includes a new park at the corner of Collins and Market streets.

“This project will revitalise a dormant CBD block while delivering more construction jobs – that’s a great example of how our planning policies encourage a contribution to the city.

“We worked with the council and CBUS so the final design would protect the Yarra River, deliver more parkland in the city and reflects our push for long-term design we can be proud of,” said Minister for Planning Richard Wynne.
