Construction is now underway on the $206 million Spring Farm Parkway Stage 1 project in New South Wales, with Georgiou Group delivering the works.

This project will deliver a vital piece of transport infrastructure that will service the growing region and connect communities across Macarthur.

“This is about building infrastructure across Greater Sydney that is going to unlock greater opportunities for NSW families.

“A connected Macarthur region means a stronger local economy and more housing supply in an area that is expanding in population quicker than anywhere else across the state.

“Our sound economic management allows us to continue to invest in our community and deliver the roads and services that make a real difference to everyday life,” Premier Dominic Perrottet said.

The Spring Farm Parkway Stage 1 project will include:

  • New four lane divided road extending about 1-kilometre from Menangle Road, west over the Hume Motorway to Menangle Park Urban Release Area
  • Upgrading 600 metres of Menangle Road at Menangle Park including a new signalised intersection at the Spring Farm Parkway
  • North facing exit ramp from Hume Motorway onto Spring Farm Parkway and Menangle Road
  • North facing entry ramp from Spring Farm Parkway and Menangle Road to the Hume Motorway
  • A shared-use path on the southern side of Spring Farm Parkway to provide access to Broughton Anglican College
  • Four new signalised intersections including:
  • Spring Farm Parkway and Menangle Road
  • North facing exit ramp from the Hume Motorway onto Spring Farm Parkway and Menangle Road
  • North facing entry ramp from Spring Farm Parkway and Menangle Road to the Hume Motorway
  • Access to the Menangle Park land release

Stages 1 and 2 of the project will eventually provide a vital East West link connecting Camden Bypass, the Hume Motorway and Menangle Road.

“This project provides direct access for Macarthur residents to the employment precincts across Greater Sydney.

“Current and future residents of Macarthur will soon have a Parkway that will cut travel time and provide a safer route on to the Hume Motorway.

“We have also planned to allow for future south facing access ramps to support growth in the area,” Minister for Metropolitan Roads Natalie Ward said.

Georgiou Group was awarded the contract to deliver the project in May of this year. Over the next three months, the contractor will work to prepare the project site for construction to begin and landowners along the project route will be notified of any potential impacts prior to commencing works.

“Spring Farm Parkway will help us build new homes, create local jobs and improve transport connections across the region,” Local Member for Camden Peter Sidgreaves said.

“This widened stretch of road will not only provide safety benefits for motorists going across the Hume Motorway but for pedestrians and cyclists as well,” Local Member for Wollondilly Nathaniel Smith said.

Stage 1 of the Spring Farm Parkway project is anticipated to create over 100 jobs during its construction, which is due to be completed by the end of 2024.

The delivery of the first stage works has been funded through private developers, the Housing Acceleration Fund and the Jobs and Infrastructure Acceleration Fund.

Meanwhile, Stage 2 of the project is also progressing but is still subject to funding. This stage of the Spring Farm Parkway project will complete the east-west link by connecting to Liz Kernohan Drive.
