A new $110 million luxury hotel is set to rise in Glenelg, South Australia. Langham Place is going to be the first hotel to be managed by Hong Kong-based luxury hotel chain Langham Hospitality Group in South Australia, and will be operated by Lustro Hotel Group.

“The South Australian region is experiencing strong growth as a leisure destination. By partnering with Lustro Hotel Group, we are pleased to add another luxury hotel to our global collection and further strengthen the Group’s presence in the Pacific,” said Langham Hospitality Group CEO Robert Warman.

Langham Place is going to be a 12-storey, five-star waterfront development which will replace the former Comfort Inn Hotel on Adelphi Terrace. The development will include 146 rooms as well as 60 residential apartments, restaurants, facilities for both leisure and business, and a high-end shopping area.

“Today’s announcement is brilliant news for the State and further confirms private and public investment in South Australia’s tourism sector in booming. The five-star hotel will have 146 rooms, 60 residential apartments, restaurants, high-end shopping, business and leisure facilities,” said Tourism Minister Leon Bignell.

Demolition of the former Comfort Inn Hotel will commence in April, with completion of Langham Place expected by mid-2019.

About 200 jobs will be supported during the construction of the luxury hotel, with 35 ongoing positions once construction is completed.

“The State Government sees tourism and major events as an important part of the transformation of South Australia’s economy and the development of Langham Place confirms this, with 200 jobs created during construction along with 35 more ongoing positions,” Mr Bignell said.
