The Sydney Metro has reached another milestone with construction underway on the first station platform at Cudgegong Road. The construction milestone follows the shortlisting of two consortia who are now invited to submit tenders to build the two tunnels under Sydney Harbour.
The two shortlisted consortia are:
“We’re cracking on with delivering this mega project for Sydney and the hive of construction activity is continuing in the North West.
“The frame of the first platform is in place at Cudgegong Road – one of 31 metro stations along the 65km route,” Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance said.

The station platform at Cudgegong Road is 187m long and 9m wide. It will be able to service a train every four minutes during peak hours and the station will also have 1,000 parking spaces for commuters.
The winning bidder for the Sydney Metro City and Southwest Tunnel and Station Excavation contract will deliver works for tunnelling and station excavations. Works will include tunnelling from Chatswood as well as under the Sydney Harbour and across the CBD.
“When Sydney Metro is extended into the CBD and beyond in 2024, there will be ultimate capacity for a metro train every two minutes in each direction under the city,” Minister Constance said.
The NSW Government is expected to announce the winning consortia by mid-2017.
