Construction is now underway on the 121MW Yarranlea Solar Farm project in Queensland. Chinese PV module producer Risen Energy Co Ltd will provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for its development as well as deliver the PV modules.

In addition, Risen Energy will own and operate the solar farm once it is completed.

The Yarranlea Solar Farm is located 50 kilometres south west of Toowoomba on a 250-hectare site. Works on the solar farm are expected to be completed by March 2019.

The solar farm is going to be connected to the grid under the management of National Electricity Market. Once the solar farm is operational, it will be able to generate approximately 264GWh of clean energy to Toowoomba and Darling Downs each year.

Risen Energy Australia Project Development and Investment Director John Zhong said: “We highly value joint development of the Yarranlea project with the Australian Government. We are also proud of the fact that the Yarranlea project is our first large-scale EPC project in the country. The project has also received regulatory approval for the development of integrated energy storage. We have set up specific zones for energy storage onsite.”
