The $910 million Rouse Hill Hospital in New South Wales is moving forward and communities in northwest Sydney are now invited to view and provide feedback on the first planning application for the project.

The community is also invited to contribute to a survey that will help shape the design of the hospital’s comprehensive maternity and birthing services.

This project is jointly funded by the Australian and New South Wales Governments, and its final scope will include:

  • An emergency department and primary access clinic
  • Comprehensive birthing services including birthing rooms and a maternity inpatient unit
  • Inpatient beds and day surgery services
  • Short stay medical assessment services
  • Pathology, pharmacy, and medical imaging services
  • Outpatient and ambulatory care services including paediatrics and renal dialysis
  • Virtual care and hospital in the home services
  • Prehabilitation, rehabilitation and lifestyle medicine

“This exciting milestone demonstrates the Albanese and Minns Labor Governments are working together to ensure locals have access to the very best health services, including full maternity services close to home.

“Together with the community, I’m extremely proud to have fought to ensure Rouse Hill Hospital is adequately equipped to support our growing community, and I encourage locals to have their say,” Federal Member for Greenway Minister Michelle Rowland said.

“This is great news for our whole community. Under the Liberals nothing ever happened, but now the detailed planning and development of Rouse Hill Hospital is full steam ahead,” Labor spokesperson for Kellyville Peter Primrose MLC said.

Early works will be the first step to prepare the project site for major construction.

The Early Works Review of Environmental Factors (REF) as well as supporting technical documents are now on public exhibition and can be viewed on the project’s consultation page, and feedback can be provided until 29 August 2025.

The online survey is providing the community and healthcare staff the opportunity to have their say on the additional services to be delivered as part of this project.

The community is also encouraged to attend one of the information sessions to meet the project team and learn more about the project. The schedule is as follows:

  • 12 August 10am to 2pm at Castle Towers, near Coles
  • 13 August 10am to 2pm at Schofields Village, near Coles
  • 14 August 11am to 1pm at Blacktown Hospital foyer, outside Gloria Jean’s cafe

Insights received from this consultation stage are vital to ensuring the new comprehensive birthing and maternity services reflect the needs and lived experiences of the people they are designed to support.

A State Significant Development Application for the main construction works is expected to be on public exhibition later this year.

“The public exhibition of the planning documents for early works for the new Rouse Hill Hospital is an exciting milestone for the project.

“This next important step highlights the Minns Labor Government’s commitment to get on with the job and progress with the construction of the new $910 million Rouse Hill Hospital in one of Sydney’s biggest growing communities,” Minister for Health Ryan Park said.

“We encourage the community to come and meet the project team at one of the community information sessions and take part in the comprehensive birthing and maternity services survey guide the future of the new Rouse Hill Hospital,” Member for Riverstone Warren Kirby said.
