Heron Resources has announced that it has awarded Port Kembla Gateway Pty Ltd (PKG) the port services contract for the Woodlawn Zinc-Copper Project in New South Wales.

Under their contract, PKG will be providing receival, storage and shiploading services for up to five years for all the copper and zinc concentrates produced from Woodlawn.

The company will be transporting zinc and copper concentrates from the mine site – near Tarago, approximately 250km south west of Sydney – by road to PKG’s facilities in the Outer Harbour in Port Kembla where the concentrates will be unloaded into sheds specifically designed to store mineral concentrates and then warehoused for future shipping.

PKG Managing Director Doyle Cook said: “Port Kembla Gateway welcomes Heron as the latest base metals producer in New South Wales, and is delighted to be able to provide a cost effective, safe and environmentally responsible solution for Heron to deliver their zinc and copper concentrates in bulk to export markets. The port services contract delivers a significant increase in movements through Port Kembla Gateway, eventually lifting our concentrates movement by more than 25%, which will have flow-on benefits for the Port and the local community.”
