Contract awarded for works on NSW Northern Beaches B-Line project

Fulton Hogan Construction Pty Ltd has been awarded the contract to deliver various major infrastructures as part of the new Northern Beaches B-Line bus service in New South Wales. The entire B-Line project is valued at about $234 million as outlined in the 2016-17 New South Wales state budget which was released earlier in 2016.

“We are taking action to deliver a more reliable and more comfortable bus service for people commuting between the Northern Beaches and the Sydney CBD.

“We are on track to deliver the most convenient public transport option the Northern Beaches has ever had, and this complements our recent announcement for the contract to deliver 38 brand new double-deck buses,” said NSW Premier Mike Baird.

As part of their contract, Fulton Hogan will be delivering car parks at Mona Vale, Warriewood, Narrabeen and Manly Vale. This will create over 900 new spaces where customers can drop off their car and link with the B-Line to get to the CBD.

18 new bus stops will also be included in the works. The bus stops along the B-Line route are strategically located around Mona Vale, Warriewood, Narrabeen, Collaroy, Dee Why, Brookvale, Manly Vale, Spit Junction and Neutral Bay. These new bus stops will feature improved facilities for customers as well as real-time service information for passengers.

Various road improvements are incorporated in the plan for the B-Line route, including new bus bays, minor lane widening as well as new signals at some intersections.

Some of the works are expected to be completed by late 2017 before the first B-Line services roll out, with the entire project to be completed by 2019.
