A new processing plant is set to be built at the Greenbushes mine in Western Australia and Talison Lithium has awarded the contract to deliver the project to Lycopodium Limited.
The contract award will span engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services for the delivery of the Chemical-Grade Processing Plant 3 (CGP3) at the mine.
Lycopodium Limited has established a relationship with Talison Lithium as the former has been providing works to develop the Greenbushes operations. Lycopodium was previously awarded the EPCM services contract for the Mine Services Area (MSA) Project, which the company is currently undertaking detailed engineering design, critical equipment procurement as well as pre-mobilisation for the project.
“We have been working in partnership with Talison for a number of years now, and having supported them through the development phases to optimise the CGP3 project, it is very pleasing to see it is now progressing to implementation,” Lycopodium Limited Managing Director Peter De Leo said.
The EPCM services for the project will involve engineering and design – including earthworks, civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation – as well as provision of overall project management such as procurement and contracts management, expediting logistics and materials management along with construction and commissioning management services leading up to the handover of operational facilities to Talison Lithium.
In addition to the CGP3 and MSA projects, Lycopodium Limited and its joint venture partner Monadelphous (Mondium joint venture) are currently delivering the Tailings Retreatment Project (TRP) at the mine, which is also a critical component of the Greenbushes mine operations expansion.
The Greenbushes mine is located directly south and adjacent the town of Greenbushes, approximately 250 kilometres south of Perth and Fremantle – a major container shipping port – and about 90 kilometres southeast of the port of Bunbury, which is a major bulk handling port.
