CPB Contractors – a CIMIC Group company – has announced that it has been awarded a $105 million contract to undertake works as part of BHP’s Nickel West Mt Keith Debottlenecking Project in Western Australia.
The company has secured the Structural, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical and Instrumentation (SMPE&I) work package. CPB Contractors will commence work at Mt Keith this year, with completion expected in 2024.
“CPB Contractors has the experience necessary to safely and reliably deliver resources infrastructure projects right across Western Australia. We are pleased to be selected to deliver another productivity enhancing project,” CIMIC Group Executive Chairman Juan Santamaria said.
“We’ll be drawing on our extensive resources industry experience to ensure that the required equipment and materials are available at Mt Keith. Our teams are looking forward to safely delivering this important project,” CPB Contractors Managing Director Jason Spears said.
BHP has also chosen CPB Contractors to deliver other recent resources project in the region. This included the expansion of the Mt Keith Mine Site camp, SMPE&I works for the Port Debottlenecking Project 1 as well as the construction and installation of the Wind Fences (Air Quality) at Port Hedland.
The Mt Keith Debottlenecking Project will deliver an additional semi-autogenous grinding (SAG) mill circuit at the Mt Keith Nickel Mine processing plant, providing additional grinding capacity to maintain ore throughput and processing at the mine and its satellite operations.
The Mt Keith Nickel Mine is located about 460 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie. It is part of the Nickel West fully integrated mine-to-market business that operates in several locations across Western Australia.
