CPB Contractors has been awarded a $170 million construct only contract by Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) for the next stage of New South Wales’ The Northern Road upgrade project.
This contract will get CPB Contractors to upgrade the existing 6.7-kilometre stretch of road between Littlefields Road in Luddenham and Glenmore Parkway in Glenmore Park from two lanes to a divided four-lane alignment with kerbside bus lanes at each intersection. This project is part of Stage 5 of the $1.6 billion The Northern Road upgrade.
The Northern Road Upgrade from Mersey Road in Bringelly to Glenmore Parkway in Glenmore Park spans 16-kilometres and is going to be delivered in three sections, namely:
Mersey Road to Eaton Road
Eaton Road to Littlefields Road
Littlefields Road to Glenmore Parkway
The three sections will ultimately help divert traffic on The Northern Road around the future Western Sydney Airport and the Luddenham town centre.

CPB Contractors, together with its joint venture partner Lendlease, was previously awarded the contract for early works at the Western Sydney Airport.
“CIMIC and CPB Contractors have worked collaboratively with the NSW Government and Roads and Maritime Services to develop a value-for-money construction program that will deliver high-quality roads assets that are resilient to future needs.
“The Northern Road upgrade project will support the development of an upgraded road network and capitalise on the benefits from the new Western Sydney Airport at Badgerys Creek, which CPB Contractors is now proudly laying the foundations for with its JV partner,” CIMIC Group Chief Executive Officer Michael Wright said.
Construction on the Luddenham to Glenmore Park section of The Northern Road Upgrade is expected to commence in 2019, with completion due by 2022.
