In December 2019, CIMIC Group company CPB Contractors has been awarded three work packages at Rio Tinto’s Robe Valley operations located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The works - with a total value of $150 million - will include earthworks and civil works.

CPB Contractors is committed to delivering these projects to the highest safety and quality standards and we’re proud to provide significant training and employment opportunities for local communities and Indigenous enterprises,” CPB Contractors Managing Director Juan Santamaria said.
CPB Contractors will be delivering works including earthworks; construction of roads, bridges and pits; water supply infrastructure and drainage; fencing; as well as site establishment and demobilisation. The works are due to be completed by the end of 2021.
To deliver these projects, close coordination with Rio Tinto and other contractors working on site is required.
The Robe Valley operations are located approximately 140 kilometres southwest of Karratha.
In late 2018, Rio Tinto and its joint venture partners Mitsui and Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal invested $1.55 billion to sustain production at the Robe Valley Joint Venture. You can read more about it here.
