Following the award of the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract in October 2018, Decmil has commenced major construction on Maoneng Australia’s 255MW Sunraysia Solar Farm in New South Wales.
Decmil announced on their LinkedIn: “It’s all systems go on the Sunraysia Solar Farm, a large scale solar photovoltaic project located in Balranald, NSW.”
Other works associated with the development of the solar farm have already been delivered including an accommodation camp, intersection works on the Yanga Highway, an all-weather access road as well as installation of security fence around the perimeter of the project site.
The Sunraysia Solar Farm - set to become one of Australia’s largest utility scale solar PV projects - is going to be built on an almost 1,000 hectare site located approximately 17 kilometres south of the Balranald town centre and 140 kilometres south east of Mildura in Victoria.
AGL and the University of New South Wales have both signed 15-year Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) for the renewable energy generated from the Sunraysia Solar Farm.
The new large-scale solar farm is expected to support up to 400 jobs during peak construction.
