Early designs have been unveiled for two new modern, safer and more accessible train stations in Melbourne’s west, which are being delivered as part of the $4.1 billion Melbourne Airport Rail Stage 1 project.
The community is also encouraged to have their say on the designs for the new Tottenham and Albion stations.
Tottenham Station is proposed to be rebuilt about 20 metres north of its current location on the realigned Sunbury Line. Passengers will have access to the station from both sides of the train line through a wider and more secure underpass, making it easier and safer for commuters to move between home, work and public transport.
Passengers at Tottenham Station will also benefit from new platforms with lifts, stairs, shelter and lighting.

On the other hand, the new Albion Station is going to be built slightly east of its current location, and it will feature an accessible concourse with lifts and stairs as well as upgraded lighting, shelters, seating and CCTV.
Works on the new Tottenham and Albion stations are due to be completed in 2030.
“New stations at Albion and Tottenham will provide modern facilities for locals to enjoy for generations to come,” Minister for Transport Infrastructure Gabrielle Williams said.
“Rebuilding Tottenham Station will make it easier and safer to access public transport and move through the precinct,” Member for Footscray Katie Hall said.
“A new and modern Albion Station will improve accessibility and better connect the local community,” Member for Laverton Sarah Connolly said.

Jointly funded by the Australian and Victorian Governments, the Melbourne Airport Rail Stage 1 project will deliver a direct link to Melbourne Airport and enable the electrification of the Melton Line.
This project will also untangle one of Victoria’s busiest rail junctions while transforming Sunshine into a transport superhub, allowing up to 1,000 trains to travel through the corridor each day.
Works are already underway to upgrade more than six kilometres of track between West Footscray and Albion to help boost capacity alongside the relocation of underground services between Albion and Sunshine to prepare for the new rail infrastructure.
“These upgrades will make it easier for local families to access public transport and get where they need to go,” Member for St Albans Natalie Suleyman said.
“These designs show how we’re delivering better, more accessible stations for Melbourne’s west – which will include a new station at Keilor East as part of Melbourne Airport Rail,” Member for Niddrie Ben Carroll said.
“This project will allow us to run more trains, more often for passengers in Victoria’s north and west – supporting growing communities like Sunbury,” Member for Sunbury Josh Bull said.
