Early works on the Dunheved Road Upgrade in New South Wales will get underway this month, taking about six months to complete, paving the way for major construction to begin by mid-2026.
Penrith City Council has appointed Georgiou Group to undertake early works on this major infrastructure investment that will improve safety, capacity as well as connectivity across the Penrith region.
The Early Works phae will run for six to nine months and it will focus on critical preparatory activities that will enable the smooth transition into the main construction phase.
Early works will include:

Design changes have also been proposed in the project’s Addendum REF, including the extension of noise walls as well as the extension or provision of new footpaths on Dunheved Road, Brookfield Avenue and Lockyer Avenue.
Other design modifications include additional planting at the Richmond Road intersection, on Dunheved Road at Henry Lawson Avenue, and Dunheved Road east of Lockyer Avenue.
The main construction contract is due to be awarded after preliminary works are completed.
The $114 million Dunheved Road Upgrade is funded by the Australian Government under the Infrastructure Investment Program.
