Expressions of interest (EOIs) are now being called for the design and construction of the third and final upgrade to Perth’s Wanneroo Road.
The $64.8 million Wanneroo Road – Ocean Reef Road interchange project is part of the multi-billion dollar Commonwealth – State infrastructure package that supports 17 new projects and approximately 6,000 jobs.
This project will involve:
- Construction of a bridge at the Wanneroo Road and Ocean Reef Road intersection
- Traffic signalised on and off ramps
- Drainage improvements
- Realignment of paths and pedestrian crossing points
The project also complements the Wanneroo Road to Flynn Drive widening that is underway as well as the Wanneroo Road and Joondalup Drive intersection upgrade currently being planned.
Federal Minister for Urban Infrastructure Paul Fletcher said that this upgrade is one of the three new projects that was planned to help relieve congestion in Perth’s growing northern suburbs.
“The Turnbull Government is delivering almost $7 billion worth of infrastructure projects in Western Australia.
“The intersection is heavily congested during peak periods, which not only affects journey reliability but has also increased crash rates. The new grade separation at the intersection will tackle these issues,” Mr Fletcher said.
Construction is expected to commence in late 2018 and completed by late 2019.
