EOIs called for new $250m Sydney Fish Market

The rejuvenation of The Bays Precinct in New South Wales is moving ahead and the State Government is planning to build a new $250 million Sydney Fish Market with it.

The new fish market is going to be twice the size of the current property – at 35,000 square metres – and it will feature 15,000 square metres of seafood retail space as well as an outdoor dining space for up to 3,000 customers and a possible rooftop bar.

Expressions of Interest are now being called to engage with engineers and designers to help shape the future Sydney Fish Market on its new location at Bridge Road, Glebe.

The project is going to be managed by UrbanGrowth NSW, who is also responsible for the development of The Bays Precinct.

“The proposed redevelopment of Sydney Fish Market is an important milestone in a long list of urban transformation projects currently in the pipeline across UrbanGrowth NSW’s portfolio.

"We’re committed to working closely with Sydney Fish Market and their shareholders in developing our plans for a food and dining destination that local, state and international visitors can be proud of,” said UrbanGrowth NSW’s Chief Executive David Pitchford.

The new Sydney Fish Market is expected to open in 2020 and the current fish market will remain open until the new one is completed.
