Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) has awarded Ertech Pty Ltd the contract to deliver the Gocup Road Upgrade between Doctors Hill and Halfway Hill in New South Wales.

The NSW Government has committed approximately $70 million across five years for this project which will be improving freight access and safety for vehicles that pass through the route.

Works will involve the construction of two overtaking lanes as well as widening and realigning the road. In addition, safety barriers will installed and two permanent bus stops will be built.

“Roads and Maritime Services received six tenders from qualified contractors in a competitive tender process for this work.

“Work is expected to start on this section of Gocup Road from early October and be completed in June 2019, weather permitting. The community will be advised of any changed traffic conditions associated with this work once it has been scheduled,” a spokesperson from RMS said.

Gocup Road has been undergoing progressive upgrade works since 2012. This project aims to provide a safer road environment for all motorists, reducing the frequency and severity of crashes.

“The Gocup Road upgrades are a medium to long-term action in the NSW Long Term Transport Master plan and the Murray-Murrumbidgee Regional Transport plan.

“The aim is to support more efficient high productivity vehicle access, particularly for the local timber and milling industry, while being sensitive to the area’s natural environment, heritage and local communities,” the RMS spokesperson said.
