The Whitford City shopping centre redevelopment in Perth will be beginning the first stage of construction next month. Works on a new entertainment and dining precinct is set to begin in August and will open its doors late in 2017.
According to Scentre Group – owner and developer of Westfield Whitford City – the first phase of works will be focusing on upgrading the precinct’s hospitality and entertainment offering. Up to 10 new restaurants and an eight-screen cinema complex will be the highlight of the first stage of redevelopment, but the broader plan for the Westfield Whitford City will include 739 apartments together with a new 27,000 square metre retail space.
Whitford City redevelopment plans (Source: Community News AU) Under the first stage of works, the existing piazza on the north side of the centre is going to be converted into a dining precinct which links to the cinemas. On the other hand, a section of the centre’s existing lower level will be transformed into an entertainment precinct.
The construction and design division of Scentre Group will taking on the works for this redevelopment project. The group is also in the planning stages for upgrades on Westfield Innaloo and Westfield Carousel.
Other projects happening in the area include the Karrinyup Shopping Centre redevelopment which was awarded to Brookfield Multiplex earlier this month.
