Galena Mining awards $74m EPC contract to GRES at Abra Project WA

Galena Mining Limited, through its subsidiary Abra Mining Pty Ltd, has awarded GR Engineering Services (GRES) a $74 million contract for engineering, procurement and construction services at the Abra Base Metals Project in Western Australia.

“We are pleased to have been awarded the contract for the delivery of the Abra Base Metals Project, which has followed GR Engineering’s involvement to date in the project’s feasibility study and preliminary design work. We look forward to working with the Galena team to safely and successfully deliver the Abra Base Metals Project,” GR Engineering Managing Director Geoff Jones said.

Under this contract award, GR Engineering will supply a 1.2 million tonne per annum lead sulphide floatation process plant and ancillary infrastructure at the Abra operations.

“I am pleased we have been able to retain GRES, which has the most relevant experience and understanding of our project, on terms that are in-line with our Feasibility Study estimates,” Galena Mining Managing Director Alex Molyneux said.

The Abra Base Metals Project is located in the Gascoyne region, between Newman and Meekatharra, about 110 kilometres from Sandfire’s DeGrussa Project.

The Abra operations is estimated to have a mine life of 16 years and it will produce high-value, high-grade lead-silver concentrate.
