A joint venture between Georgiou Group and Brady Marine and Civil has been awarded a $74 million contract for wharf construction as part of the first stage of the Garden Island (East) Critical Infrastructure Recovery Project (CIRP) in Sydney, New South Wales.

“...this project builds on our capability in this sector and our experienced teams are excited to be part of such a critical infrastructure project.
“We have a lot of synergy with Brady Marine and Civil, common values, similar working style and are confident this partnership will be another good example of a strong working relationship between the two parties,” Georgiou Group CEO Rob Monaci said.

With CIRP, the Department of Defence is aiming to deliver critical infrastructure and engineering works at Garden Island (East) to help address the significant condition, capacity and compliance issues with the wharves as well as base-wide engineering service.

The CIRP is going to be delivered in two stages, with the first stage to be delivered by Bayinguwa Delivery Team - a joint venture between Lendlease and PSG Holdings - and Stage Two to be delivered by Lendlease Building Pty Ltd.

The two stages will cover works, including:

  • Stage One - demolition of the existing Cruiser and Oil wharves and the construction of a new wharf with a revised alignment, which will be equipped with a crane, engineering services and wharf furniture
  • Stage Two - remediation of the remaining wharves and base-wide engineering services, including electrical and fuel systems

Works are anticipated to commence this month - with up to 50 jobs supported at peak construction - and is due for completion by March 2021.
