Georgiou Group appointed to deliver $94m logistics facility in NSW

Georgiou Group has been contracted by Qube to deliver Australia’s largest freight infrastructure project in New South Wales – the $94 million Moorebank Logistics Park West (MPW). 

“Having delivered large freight terminal projects across Western Australia and Queensland, our experienced team looks forward to building on this capability in New South Wales. 

Qube is a new client for Georgiou Group so this project will allow us to not only demonstrate our expertise but build on our reputation of being the best people to work with,” Georgiou Group Chief Executive Officer Rob Monaci said. 

The MPW is going to be built on a 243-hectare site and it will link Port Botany directly to rail terminals and warehousing on site. 

For this project, Georgiou Group will undertake all civil and infrastructure works which includes clearing, bulk earthworks, earth retaining structures, stormwater and drainage, and access roads. 

Works are anticipated to commence immediately and will be due for completion in April 2021. Georgiou Group is expecting to have up to 60 personnel on site during peak construction.

Once the MPW is operational, it will be able to transport approximately 1.05 million twenty foot equivalent units (TEU) of Import-Export freight as well as 0.5 million TEU of interstate freight annually. 

The facility will comprise of an 850,000-SQM of high specification warehousing and auxiliary services that includes retail and service offerings. 

Access options to the MPW will include a rail connection to the Southern Sydney Freight Line (SSFL) – which is being built – with the M5 and M7 arterial roads only minutes away.
