The mineral processing plant expansion at the Carosue Dam gold operations in Western Australia is one step closer to commencing construction as Saracen Gold Mines Pty Ltd - a wholly-owned subsidiary of Saracen Mineral Holdings Limited - awards the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to GR Engineering Services.
GR Engineering will undertake the installation of a secondary grinding equipment to help increase the processing plant’s capacity to about 3.2Mtpa as well as upgrade works to the existing CIL circuit and delivery of other process infrastructure.

This new contract award is valued at approximately $24.5 million. Works will commence immediately and the upgrade is due to be completed in the first half of FY21.
“GR Engineering is pleased to again be working with Saracen to deliver improvements to its mineral processing facilities at Carosue Dam. Having been involved in the initial development of Carosue Dam in 2000, our team maintained a strong relationship with Saracen and utilised its understanding of the project to deliver incremental benefits to the project. GR Engineering looks forward to achieving positive outcomes for Saracen through the safe and successful delivery of these expansion works,” GR Engineering Managing Director Geoff Jones said.
The Carosue Dam gold operations is located about 120 kilometres north-east of Kalgoorlie, within the South Laverton gold field, and is comprised of a processing plant, a modern accommodation village and other vital infrastructure.
