GR Engineering has signed a contract - valued at approximately $17.9 million - with Saracen Gold Mines Pty Ltd at the Carosue Dam operations located 120 kilometres north east of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.

Works under this contract will include engineering design, procurement and construction of a paste backfill plant at the Carosue Dam gold operations. Scope of works will extend to all process engineering design as well as supply, construction and commissioning of the plant.

Once completed, the backfill plant is going to be capable of producing 110 to 120 cubic metres per hour (m3/h) of paste that will fill stopes in the Karari underground mine.

GR Engineering has a historical involvement with the Carosue Dam project when the original processing facilities were commissioned back in 2000.

GR Engineering Managing Director Geoff Jones commented: “We are pleased to have the opportunity to continue our involvement with Carosue Dam and work with Saracen on the safe and successful delivery of the paste plant.”

Work on the new paste backfill plant is expected to commence immediately and the facility is projected to be completed by the second half of 2019 financial year.
