Scottish brewer BrewDog has been given the green light by the Brisbane City Council for the development of its $30 million riverfront brewery in Murarrie, Brisbane East - the company’s first Australian brewery.

The new BrewDog brewery is going to be located at 77 Metroplex Avenue and will cover approximately 28 per cent of the 15,340-SQM site. The facility will include a production brewery, tap room, restaurant and visitor centre.

As part of the conditions under the approval, BrewDog is restricted to operate its food and drink trade from 7AM to midnight, while the rest of the brewery can operate 24 hours.

The facility will also include 101 car parks and six bicycle parking spaces as well as a pedestrian entry from Metroplex Avenue.

“BrewDog’s decision to make Brisbane home is another vote of confidence in our city as a great place to live, work and invest, and will complement our strong local craft beer industry that includes Newstead Brewing and Green beacon.

“Not only will the site provide product Australia-wide, but the company has hinted at potential future export to New Zealand and Asia,” Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said.

Once operational, the BrewDog brewery will be able to produce up to 10 million litres of beer annually.

The brewery is expected to support up to 150 jobs over the next five years in Brisbane, with about 60 jobs during its construction.

The new BrewDog brewery is expected to be completed later in 2018 and will begin production in 2019.
