Salt Lake Potash Limited has awarded GR Engineering Services (GRES) two contracts with a combined value of $107 million for the delivery of process and non-process infrastructure at the Lake Way Project in Western Australia’s Goldfields region.
“We are very pleased to have executed these contracts with GRES who have been a critical contracting partner by our side throughout the design development of the Lake Way processing plant and off-lake infrastructure since early 2019. The finalisation of these major Project contracts and the substantial engineering and procurement activity to date has further de-risked the Lake Way Project execution and confidence around the capital budget,” Salt Lake Potash Chief Executive Officer Tony Swiericzuk said.
The first contract is valued at $85 million and will cover engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) works which will include the provision of plant, labour, materials and construction services of the process plant and non-process infrastructure.
The second contract – which is valued at $22 million – involves the engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) works for the areas of the process plant and non-process infrastructure.

GR Engineering looks forward to Salt Lake Potash emerging as a significant new Australian SOP [Sulphate of Potash] Producer,” GRES Managing Director Geoff Jones said.
The Lake Way Project is located about 15 kilometres south of Wiluna and it is part of Salt Lake Potash’s Goldfields Salt Lakes Project which is comprised of a number of SOP operations.
Once operational, Lake Way will have a 20-year mine life and it is expected to produce up to 245,000 tonnes of SOP a year. First sales is anticipated for the first quarter of 2021.
