Laing O'Rourke secures $200m contract for works on Ichthys onshore facilities

Laing O’Rourke has secured the third major work package to deliver the Miscellaneous Civil Finishing Works on the Ichthys Project Onshore LNG Facilities at Bladin Point, Darwin. The project is valued at approximately $200 million and includes concrete pavements, hand railings and foundation works.

"This is the third major package we have secured on this project. In 2012 Laing O'Rourke was awarded the EPC contract to deliver a network of four massive cryogenic tanks (in consortium with Kawasaki Heavy Industries) and the $260 million contract to deliver the 3,500 bed Manigurr-ma Village in Howard Springs." - Laing O'Rourke Region Director, Stuart Crofts

In line with the contract awarded to Laing O'Rourke, Territoria Civil was previously awarded an $80 million contract to deliver roads and paving works which includes the laying of asphalt and permanent traffic signage to the site.

These awarded contracts have opened hundreds of jobs for locals and it will be creating more opportunities for businesses in Northern Territory - including the supply of asphalt, gravel and sand. There are about 3,500 Territorians working on the Ichthys Project and, as a result of project activities, more than $8 billion is flowing through the NT economy.

The Inchthys Project

The onshore processing facility for the Ichthys project will be responsible for cooling the gas delivered to the site via pipeline, and the facility will then transform the gas into liquid, reducing its volume for transport.
