Lendlease to deliver works on $720m Randwick Campus Redevelopment NSW

Lendlease has announced that it has been awarded the contract to deliver main works on the Prince of Wales Hospital’s new Acute Services Building in New South Wales. The company is expected to have approximately 600 workers on site during peak construction.

“We’re delighted to once again be engaged by the New South Wales Government in the delivery of important health infrastructure for the State.

“Importantly, we are partnering with the NSW Government on a strong commitment to create more jobs in local communities for women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, the long-term unemployed and apprentices as part of the project’s delivery,” Lendlease Chief Executive Officer Building Australia Dale Connor said.

The new Acute Services Building is part of the $720 million Randwick Campus Redevelopment, which includes:

  • Expanded adult emergency department, psychiatric emergency care centre, and intensive care unit
  • New rapid assessment unit including a virtual care centre
  • Replacement of existing inpatient wards and provision of additional inpatient beds providing contemporary facilities for the following specialties -
    • Haematology and Oncology
    • Aged Care (Acute and Sub Acute)
    • Orthogeriatrics
    • Respiratory Medicine and Infectious Diseases
    • The Acute Spinal Unit
    • A Neurosciences floor which incorporates an expanded Acute Stroke Unit, Neurology and Neurosurgical beds and the Complex Epilepsy Service
  • Four new digital operating theatres equipped with state-of-the-art technology for neuroscience surgery and complex orthopedics, including major spinal surgery
  • A new and expanded central sterilising service department and a new helipad serving the Randwick Hospitals Campus
  • Teaching, education and research spaced integrated with clinical areas to support collaborative medical research

In addition, this redevelopment project will enable education, training and research to more closely integrated with the health care services provided in the precinct as well as expand the Ambulatory care facilities following the opening of the new Acute Services Building in 2022.
