EMC Metals Australia – a subsidiary of Scandium International Mining Corp – has awarded Brisbane-based Lycopodium Minerals an engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contract – for an undisclosed amount – to deliver works on the Nyngan Scandium Project in New South Wales.

Lycopodium Minerals’ scope of works will include project management, engineering design and management, procurement services as well as contracting services, construction management and commissioning.

“We are excited to continue our collaborative relationship with Scandium International, moving now from the feasibility study work into the project execution phase. Lycopodium looks forward to developing the Nyngan Scandium Project through design, construction, commissioning and ramp-up to commercial production, in accordance with project goals that have been established jointly with Scandium International,” said Lycopodium Managing Director Rod Leonard.

The Nyngan Scandium Project – located on a 2,925-hectare site 500 kilometres north-west of Sydney – is the world’s first scandium-only mine development.

The project has recently received its key environmental and mining permits which are required to build the mine.

Knight Piesold Consulting has also been awarded a contract to deliver water, earthworks, and tailings systems engineering and design for the Nyngan Scandium Project.

Mine development and construction for this project is still subject to project financing.
