MACA extends operations at Mt Magnet gold mine with $130m contract win

MACA Limited will be extending its operations at the Mount Magnet gold project in Western Australia with a new three-year contract extension valued at $130 million from Ramelius Resources.

MACA’s scope of works for this contract extension will consist of open pit mining services, including drilling and blasting as well as loading and hauling.

“We are pleased to continue our relationship with Ramelius Resources at Mount Magnet for a further 3 years. The services we provide at Mount Magnet and Edna May for Ramelius make up an important part of MACA’s Work in Hand in the gold sector,” MACA Limited CEO and Managing Director Mike Sutton said.

MACA commenced operations at the Mount Magnet project in 2017, with a scope of works comprising of loading and hauling; drilling and blasting; stockpile rehandling; clearing, stripping and rehabilitation; dewatering; as well as workshop, office facilities construction and maintenance.

The Mount Magnet gold project is located adjacent the town of Mount Magnet in the Murchison Goldfield, approximately 560 kilometres north east of Perth.

The gold project is comprised of various open pit and underground mines that spans a total project area of 255 square kilometres.

Ramelius Resources first acquired the Mount Magnet gold project in 2010 and began open pit mining in 2011 with a reserve base of 545,000 ounces of gold.
