Major works on the Turkey Point Access Road and Bridge in Western Australia will soon commence following the appointment of Fulton Hogan as the preferred builder for this project.
Fulton Hogan was awarded a $22 million contract to deliver the dual-use path, road and bridge that will provide better access to local amenities at Turkey Point and boost opportunities at the Port of Bunbury.
The project will connect Estuary Drive to Leschenault Drive and this vital infrastructure will help reduce congestion as well as decrease interaction between port-related vehicles and public road users.
“This Turkey Point Access Road and Bridge is an important part of the Southern Ports’ Port of Bunbury’s Master Plan that will help unlock more trade opportunities for Berth 8 and future trade through additional berths.
“The project will also increase safety for the community and port users by diverting public road users away from the Port and providing direct access to Turkey Point.
“It is fantastic to see another infrastructure investment of the Cook Government progress to the next stage and provide regional employment opportunities,” Ports Minister David Michael said.
The beginning of construction is part of Phase Two of the project – which is funded by a $34 million contribution from the Western Australian Government – and this milestone follows years of planning that involved environmental approvals, community consultation and engineering design to deliver the best project outcome.
The first phase of work was completed last year, and it included site investigations, geotechnical works (land-based and river-based), relocation of Western Power assets done by Western Power, and embankment surcharge works.
The Turkey Point Access Road and Bridge project is expected to be completed by mid-2025.

“Turkey Point is a much-loved recreational amenity for our Bunbury community and having safer and easier access is a bonus for everyone,” Regional Development Minister Don Punch said.
